Bhopal, Oct 12: After Maxi and Indore the Food and Drugs department has seized 4.5 quintals of Mava from Bhopal. Team of the department also raided several sweetmeat shops and took several samples of sweets from them. Action of the department show that food adulterators are spread all over the state and most of the food items sold in the market are not pure.
Starting a campaign against adulterated Mava and sweets before Diwali, the teams of Food and Drugs Department raided most of the sweetmeat shops and cold storage on Monday. The team seized 4.5 quintals of adulterated Mava from the Gangotri Cold Store and Ice Factory situated at Lambakhera. It is said that the seized Mava is around two weeks old. As the seized Mava is adulterated the authorities have sealed the Cold Store. The team of officers took samples of Curd from the Cold Store. The Cold Store had 12 packets of Mava and each weighed around 40 kg. It is said that the traders bring large quantity of Mava and keep here and use it as per demand.
Sweets thrown out
The raiding team raided established sweetmeat shops like Chhappan Bhog at New Market, Uttam Bhog at 10 No. Stop, and Bajrang Dairy of Piplani. The team found that the Karachi Halwa had more colour kept at Bajrang Dairy. The team took a sample of it and threw rest of it. The team was of the view that the Halwa had more than enough colour which is unhealthy. The team also collected samples of sweets from Chhappan Bhog and Uttam Bhog. The team could not find anything wrong at the Quality and Bhargava Cold Store.
