Central Region Electricity Distribution Company caught an accused of electricity theft. He case was presented before the court of additional chief magistrate, Bhopal where the accused has been sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment (RI).
The Magistrate has sentenced Indu Sharma to one year rigorous imprisonment and fined her Rs 1000. If the accused fails to pay fine of Rs 1000 then she will have to under go one month additional imprisonment. The additional chief magistrate has convicted the accused under Indian Electricity Act 1910 section 39.
On November 20, 2000 assistant engineer Soman Nayar inspected the premises of Indu Sharma. It was found that the consumer from the pole on his premises had connected wire with electricity pole directly and he was caught stealing. After the consumer was found stealing electricity FIR was registered in Kamla Nagar Police Station.
