Bhopal, Oct 12: Meeting of MP University Pensioners' Association Federation was held at the Guest House of Barkatullah University on Monday. Federation President HK Saxena chaired the meeting. Representatives from all over the state attended the meeting.
The meeting expressed concern over not getting pension in the first week of the month and the government has not started paying revised pension to university pensioners as per Sixth Pay Commission recommendations when state government pensioners are getting this benefit with retrospective effect from 1.1.2006.
It was also noted in the meeting that provision made in the current year budget for payment of pension to university pensioners has come down considering previous years when more teaching staff, officers and employees are retiring every year. A question was raised in the meeting whether the state government was unaware of the facts or no one invited attention of the government towards them.
At the meeting it was informed that the state government had made a provision of Rs 5 crore only for paying pension to university pensioners. This amount has already been disbursed till August/September this year. No amount is left with the government for paying pension from October. Therefore, the University Pensioners Association Federation has invited attention of the state government and requested the government to make available Rs 12 crore for paying pension for the remaining months of the financial year 2009-10. The Federation also requested the government to pay the revised pension and its arrears too.
The meeting has also requested the government to provide medical facility to the university pensioners like that of the state government employees. The meeting decided to request the Allahabad Bank management to send the pension to the account of the pensioners directly because at the present set up pension is not getting in time.
At the beginning MP University Pensioners Association Bhopal unit secretary Dr Radheyshyam Dube welcomed Federation President Prof HK Saxena with bouquet. Former vice chancellors Prof IS Chouhan, Prof Santosh Kumar, Prof Udaychand Jain, Prof DP Sharma, and KL Khandelwal from Gwalior, Pinge and Prof Rahman Ai from Ujjain were specially present.
